Green Transition in the Advanced Textile Industry for Engineers and Professionals
This course will cover some core concepts of the Green Transition in the textile industry and some of the key technologies enabling this process. It is organised in five topics, as follows:
- Understanding green transition
- Raw material for green transition
- Fiber-to-fiber textile recycling
- Technologies for resource efficient manufacturing
- Evaluating environmental impact of the textile industry
After each module (ULO) there will be a short quiz. You must get a score of 80% or higher on the quizzes to earn your certificate.

Lecturer in the Material Science and Engineering Department- Textile Division (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-UPC). BSc in Chemistry (UdG), MSc in Industrial Chemistry (UAB), and PhD in Technology (UdG). Her research focuses on natural fibres, polymeric, and composite materials. She is author of 30 SSCI indexed publications, 1 book chapter, and participated in eight competitive projects funded by the Spain government (6) and the European Union (2).
Serra-Húnter Tenure-track Lecturer in the Material Science and Engineering Department- Textile Division (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-UPC). BSc in Industrial Design (ELISAVA-UPF) and Material Science Engineering (UPC), MSc and PhD in Textile Engineering. Her research focuses on cement and polymeric composite materials reinforced with textile fibres, sustainability, smart textiles, and product design. She is author of 16 SSCI-indexed publications, 26 conference communications, and 1 patent and has participated in 5 competitive projects funded by the Spanish Government and European Union.
Full Professor, head of the Textile Engineering Section of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-UPC) and coordinator of Textile Technology Research Group (TECTEX). MSc in Chemistry and PhD in Materials Science & Engineering. Her research is focused on the development of fiber-reinforced sustainable composites, textile recycling, and smart textiles. Prof. Ardanuy has more than 75 SSCI-indexed publications and is co-author of two patents and various books & book chapters. She is currently participating as a principal investigator in various Spanish & European projects. Since 2002, has been teaching Materials & Textile Engineering courses at undergraduate, master, and doctoral levels.
