Smart Transition in the Advanced Textile Industry for Technicians and Graduates

Dr. Mohammad Neaz Morshed is a researcher in Textile Materials Technology, currently affiliated with the Swedish School of Textiles at the University of Borås. Dr. Morshed also serves as the program coordinator for the WE-TEAM international master's program in Textile Technology at the University of Borås, demonstrating his commitment to advancing education in this field. His teaching responsibilities encompass a range of subjects, including Textile Chemistry and Textile Biotechnology for master's students, as well as Textile Fibers and Circular Textiles for bachelor's students.
Dr. Morshed is an expert in functional and smart textiles involves the modification and enhancement of textile surfaces to confer specific properties, such as catalytic activity, water repellency, flame resistance, and antimicrobial activity.
Dr. Morshed excels in the integration of advanced technologies and biocatalysts (enzyme) into fabrics, creating materials that can interact with their environment or with the wearer. These capabilities have far-reaching implications in environmental and green chemistry domain. Dr. Morshed is involved in several EU, national and internationally funded research projects.
Has a degree in Chemistry from Oporto University (1986-1990), and 30 years of textile dyeing and finishing experience in consultancy, training, and R&D projects (national and European) as coordinator or team member namely Multicoated Textile, 2nd DERMIS, Functional textiles as a way of preventing and controlling diseases; DERMATERRY - Development terry towel functional textiles, ALGO.NATURE and PICASSO -natural dyes extracted from plants, vegetables and mushrooms , GOBLUE, ON-LINE COLOUR and TEXBOOST. She has also participated in several working groups dedicated to standardization, colorimetric and sustainable issues
Dr. Sweta Iyer is a Researcher in the Department of Textile Materials Technology (TMT) at University of Borås since October 2020. Her research work is mainly focused upon development of functional textiles. She has competence in advanced digital printing technology. Her field of expertise is textile materials, physical and surface chemistry. She received her joint doctorate degree in September 2020 under the framework of Erasmus Mundus SMDTex program. Her PhD research work enabled to explore the use of biobased products to produce multifunctional luminescent textiles using functionalization and technology driven approach with resource efficient solutions.
She works as a project manager in company TITERA. Current EU projects are specializing in the field of smart textiles and advanced materials. Within these projects, she plays a vital role in creating educational materials for students at VAT and HEI levels, as well as professionals seeking specialized knowledge. Work on current projects address the shortage of educational resources on smart textiles and advanced materials, offering open-source solutions that bridge the industry knowledge gap. With her university background, she possess effective communication skills and is experienced in delivering public presentation.
Dr. eng. Ion Razvan Radulescu is senior scientific researcher at INCDTP – Bucharest. He has a PhD in modelling shielding effectiveness of textile structures and expertise in plasma coating and functionalization of textile materials. Further interests are statistical - mathematical processing of experimental data (Modde, Matlab), sustainability of textiles and Life Cycle Assessment (SimaPro). He is e-learning developer and Moodle certified administrator and has coordinated as project manager five Erasmus+ partnership projects and as partner manager one ERA-NET MANUNET project.
CEO of TITERA, she is Textile and clothing engineer, expert in Smart Textiles, sustainable Business Transformation Manager and a Technical Expert at Smart X Community. Her research focused on the tech solutions needed for Smart Textiles aimed for different application fields. In addition, she gives training and coaching related to business and market potential in Smart Textile products. She is involved in different EU initiatives as evaluator and committee member; as expert at CEN standardisation group.
